Small Text Generator
Make your text tiny. This tool converts your words into three different small text styles using Unicode characters. The result copies and pastes anywhere, and displays on any device without special fonts.
Type your text and pick from superscript (raised), subscript (lowered), or small caps (miniature capitals).
ˢᵐᵃˡˡ ᵗᵉˣᵗ - Perfect for footnotes and annotations
ₛₘₐₗₗ ₜₑₓₜ - Great for chemical formulas
sᴍᴀʟʟ ᴄᴀᴘs - Elegant and professional
The Three Small Text Styles
Superscript (Raised Text)
Text appears raised above the normal line, like mathematical exponents. Looks like this: ˢᵘᵖᵉʳˢᶜʳⁱᵖᵗ
Originally designed for math notation (like x²), footnotes, and ordinals (1ˢᵗ, 2ⁿᵈ). Now used for aesthetic bios and making text stand out.
Subscript (Lowered Text)
Text sits below the baseline, like chemical formulas. Looks like this: ₛᵤᵦₛᶜᵣᵢₚₜ
Originally for chemistry (H₂O) and mathematical notation. Works well for subtle, understated text effects.
Small Caps (Miniature Capitals)
Lowercase letters become smaller versions of capitals. Looks like this: sᴍᴀʟʟ ᴄᴀᴘs
This style looks the most professional. Used in formal typography for headings, names, and emphasis. Popular for Instagram bios that want to look elegant rather than flashy.
Where to Use Small Text
Social Media Bios
Small text works particularly well for taglines, mottos, or secondary information in your bio. The main text stays normal size while a tagline in small caps adds visual variety without being overwhelming.
Example bio structure:
Your Name
ᴘʜᴏᴛᴏɢʀᴀᴘʜᴇʀ · ᴛʀᴀᴠᴇʟᴇʀ · ᴄᴏғғᴇᴇ ʟᴏᴠᴇʀ
Twitter / X
Superscript can add extra context without taking up character count visually (though it still counts against the limit). Small caps work for display names to look distinctive.
Discord
Small text works in nicknames, server names, and messages. Useful for whispered or aside comments in roleplay servers.
Comments and Posts
Small text can add a whispered or muttered tone to comments. Don't overuse it, but occasional small text can add personality to your posts.
Limitations
Not All Characters Convert
Unicode only includes superscript and subscript versions of certain letters. Numbers mostly work, but some letters (especially in subscript) don't have exact matches. The generator uses the closest available alternatives.
Readability
Small text is, by definition, small. It's hard to read in large amounts. Use it for accent, not for entire paragraphs.
Platform Support
Superscript and small caps work almost everywhere. Subscript is more limited because Unicode has fewer subscript characters. If subscript text looks off on some platforms, try superscript instead.
